Terms of Service

Last updated: November 2026

These terms govern your use of the AltMint website and the AltMint WordPress plugin (together, “AltMint”). By downloading, installing, or using AltMint, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

1. The free plugin

The AltMint plugin is open-source software distributed under the GNU General Public License v2.0 or later. That license governs your rights to use, study, share, and modify the plugin code. These terms cover the hosted landing page, the early-access list, and any paid plans, not the GPL rights you already have.

2. Bring your own AI key

AltMint requires an API key from a supported AI provider (OpenAI, OpenRouter, or Google Gemini) to generate alt text. You are responsible for that account, its costs, and compliance with the provider's terms. AltMint does not control AI output and does not guarantee that a suggestion is accurate.

3. Review before saving

AltMint is designed so that no AI-generated alt text goes live without human approval. You are responsible for reviewing suggestions before saving them and for the final content published on your site.

4. Paid plans

Paid plans, when offered, are subscriptions billed through Creem, our merchant of record. Creem handles payment processing, receipts, refunds, and applicable taxes. Prices are shown in US dollars and may change with notice; existing subscriptions keep their price for the current billing period.

Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. You can cancel at any time from the billing portal, and access continues until the end of the paid period. Unless required by law or stated at checkout, payments are non-refundable.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to use AltMint to:

6. Availability and changes

We may change, suspend, or discontinue parts of the service, including the early-access list and paid plans. We aim to give reasonable notice of material changes. The plugin itself can always be used offline except for the AI provider call.

7. Disclaimer of warranties

To the maximum extent permitted by law, AltMint is provided “as is” and without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy of AI output, or non-infringement. We do not guarantee search rankings, accessibility compliance, or revenue results.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, lost profits, lost data, or business interruption arising from your use of AltMint. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or twenty US dollars if you have not paid us.

9. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle data and is part of these terms.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the seller's principal place of business, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Nothing here limits mandatory consumer rights you have under your local law.
